When you write a book entitled Enjoy the Ride, and have it published by Advantage Media Group, it’s not a surprise when you end up speaking in Montreux, Switzerland. Ever since Advantage Media Group began publishing, distributing, and marketing the books I have written, my speaking engagements have increased. A periphery benefit is that 80% of all clients who hire me to speak pre-purchase a book for all their attendees.

A world (pun intended) of gratitude to Advantage Media Group for publishing the ultimate business card-- my books! Since partnering with Advantage I have been to Canada, Mexico (Cancun and Cabo), Hawaii (Maui and Kauai), Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Greece, Italy, Belgium, England, Switzerland, and on a Mediterranean Cruise.

My wife, Charleen, and I recently celebrated our thirtieth wedding anniversary. To celebrate the occasion we visited Apalachicola, FL. Apalach, as the locals call it, is a quaint fishing village located along the northern Gulf Coast. While there, we stayed at the famous Gibson Hotel, a Victorian Inn, built in 1907. This photo was taken by one of the guests.

My book, Profitable Persuasion, is being published by the great folks at Advantage with a scheduled publication date of early 2009. With their help, this book will accelerate my business and allow my wife and I to take many more vacations like this. If you are thinking about publishing a book, I would highly recommend you contact Advantage.

Since I’m the guy you ‘borrowed’ the bandanna photo story contest from I wanted to share how I’ve used it myself, including promoting my new book Worry Free Retirement. The winner of my bandanna story contest got the use of a 76’ yacht for a sunset cruise with 20 of their closest friends. The photo is me with my client and some of her friends while we were cruising along on the yacht.

As each guest departed, they received a gift bag, complete with a copy of the winning story and of course my book! Everyone was interested in ‘getting my card’. You should have seen their faces when I told them to look in my book for my contact information. ‑ is definitely set me apart from anyone else they might be doing business with. Every guest will be getting a free subscription (a $24.95 value) to my monthly newsletter and a DVD of a slide show of all the photos we took during the cruise with nice background music. ‑ e ending slide has all my contact info as well. It’s too early to tell what business results will come from this, but just one new client from this small group will more than pay for my book publishing investment!

For almost two months I had been carrying around my Advantage “Ask Me About My Book” bandanna. I am one of those philosophical types. Th e “smidgeonly” eccentric type who contemplates the meaning of life and the ideal setting for a particular navy blue and white bandanna. I recently took a four day Caribbean cruise with my honey. On the first day at sea,

I came upon the perfect location for my great philosophical story and accompanying picture. It was the “rock wall” located at the bow of the ship.

I waited until the last day of our trip to attempt this quite popular activity. I spent the first three days watching. Many got half way up and stopped. Some climbed seemingly unafraid to the top, ringing the bell with glee in their accomplishment. Not seeing anyone fall to their death, I hesitantly walked up to the counter, put on my gear and began my journey to face the “rock”.

As I stared at the wall, eyes frightfully darting from the base to the top, awaiting the go ahead from my spotter, I had an epiphany. It’s amazing how this occurs when you are scared out of your pants or should I say shorts. I recognized that this rock wall experience was very similar to my publishing partnership with Advantage Media. The success of my book is the bell at the top. Even though Advantage Media is my spotter, guiding me and providing me with the necessary tools and encouragement to reach the top, I am the one who is ultimately responsible for ringing the bell.

Well, on that flawlessly beautiful warm sunny day, I hastily climbed my way to the top of the rock. With my heart racing and the wind blowing fiercely across my back, I reached the top of the rock, pulled the cord and enthusiastically began ringing the bell with a full sense of my accomplishment. Later, as I bellied up to tiki bar, sipping the tropical drink of the day, feeling my heart rate slowly return to normal, I continued relishing in both my accomplishment and epiphany. As I stood alongside my honey, staring at the pictures he had so proudly taken of me, I courageously proclaimed, “By the way, I’m petrifi ed of heights!”

I have spent the last 3 weeks traveling through Ethiopia gathering stories and photos that will give a voice and face to the quiet oppression that women and girls encounter in developing countries. 100% of the profits from "Voices of Beauty" will be donated to assist girls with education and micro loans to women in Africa. Here I am in Arba Minch, Ethiopia surrounded by children who will benefit from the book sales of "Voice of Beauty." It has been an amazing journey!

While lounging in the Mexico City Airport I had one of my fellow team members snap this photo. We were on our way to Tuxtla Gutierrez and an orphanage called Casa Alegre currently filled with a little over 100 orphans ranging in age from 9 months to 22 years. Mexico City Airport is a mass acreage of terminals with a definite dearth of seats, so while waiting for our next flight on the Fokker 100 over the jungles of southern Mexico, we lounge on sketchy carpet (100 passengers, 25 chairs) and pray for clement weather. The excitement of knowing my new book, Nana Banana, will be waiting for me when I get home – still flying high from the Author Marketing Summit, and looking forward to seeing the kids at the orphanage made for a huge smile and hearty, “Hi, Mom!”
